Natural Decongestant Rub

A delicious smell is coming from my workbench – a blend of essential oils designed to help clear the airways, ease chesty coughs, and calm a distressed, sick child so they can sleep.  Eucalyptus, peppermint, camphor – those herbal oils that shout “wintertime!”

Years ago, when my oldest children were little I became dissatisfied with using the petroleum based decongestants my mother had always used – I can’t mention brand names on here, but you are all familiar with the clear, jelly-like ointments Mum rubbed on your chest, or dissolved in boiling water for you to breathe the steam.  I wanted a natural alternative.  So I played around with beeswax and oils, and came up with my own version.

Pleasant-smelling, containing only natural ingredients, Lenabosa Farm Decongestant Rub was born.  Rub it on the chest – or for babies and sensitive skin smear some on a handkerchief and place inside the clothing next to the chest – it can bring sensitive skin out in a fine, dotty rash.  Or put a teaspoon into a bowl of boiling water, lean over, place a towel over your head so the steam is trapped in your “tent” with you, and breathe in the steam.  Rubbing on the soles of the feet is also a good way to use it – the skin there absorbs things very well.  Put some bed socks on so it doesn’t get on your sheets, and keep your feet warm, too.

Great for any chesty colds, and to clear the sinuses, our family of nine have been using it for years.  Satisfied customers keep coming back for more.
